Writing Workshops Focus on Outlines and Drafting…APA, too

The March writing workshop series provides five workshops designed to help students create appropriate outlines for various types of writing and then move from outline to their first draft.  Organization is often an area students struggle with, and while many think outlines are a waste of time, our workshops show students how an outline can help them write a better and stronger paper.  Another major concern for many students is development, and Carrie Hannigan’s workshop on moving from outline to first draft on March 15 at 3:00 PM ET will provide students with strategies for developing their ideas into full paragraphs that include research for support.   Please check out the schedule of writing workshops for February on the Writing Workshops page in the Writing Center and encourage your students to attend or view the recordings.  These workshops are a great way to supplement your own instruction.

We are also offering three APA workshops in March.  The series moves from basic citation to formatting to advanced concerns.  You and your students can find the APA workshop schedule on the Writing Workshops page as well under Special Announcements at the top of the page.

And finally, a student workshop on how to effectively use the Writing Center resources and services is offered on Monday, March 12 at 1:00 PM ET.  Please encourage all your students to attend this very important workshop that will help learn about the various services and resources we have to offer and the best ways to use them.

No registration or signup is needed for these workshops, and faculty are always welcome to attend.
