APA Workshops for Students & Faculty
Greetings readers! In August, at the request of a number of KU faculty, Diane Martinez and I developed and presented a couple of workshops on particular aspects of APA. Those workshops proved to be popular, so we will be offering the workshops, one focusing on basic citation and the other on formatting, again this month. In fact, each workshop will be offered twice and you will find more specific information below regarding dates, times, and links for each workshop. Please pass along this information to your students as well as other faculty who might be interested. Thanks!
Hope to see you there,
Kurtis
APA: The Easy Way
Basic Citation
If you struggle with understanding the basics of APA citation, please join us for a special APA workshop where we will cover why we cite, when we cite, and some of the most common citations you will use in academic writing. You will learn the format for in-text citations and the most common full citations. You will also learn about the many easy-to-use APA resources available for your use in the Writing Center. This workshop is open to undergraduate and graduate students, as well as faculty. We have day and evening times for you to choose from; however, if you are unable to attend, these workshops will be recorded and a recording will be available on the Writing Workshops page in the Writing Center:
Tuesday, October 11, 7:00 PM ET, Presented by Diane Martinez
Wednesday, October 12, Noon ET, Presented by Kurtis Clements

Formatting
Learning citation is one aspect of APA style; knowing how to format your paper is also part of the style guide. In this special workshop on APA formatting, you will learn proper manuscript guidelines including how to format the title page, running heads, headings and subheadings, in-text citations, and a references page. This workshop is open to undergraduate and graduate students, as well as faculty. We have day and evening times for you to choose from; however, if you are unable to attend, these workshops will be recorded and a recording will be available on the Writing Workshops page in the Writing Center.
